Santa Catalina Island is the most accessible of the eight Channel Islands off the coast of southern California and the only island with a city, Avalon, and accommodation. Like the other islands, Catalina Island is mostly in its original state with unspoiled nature and wildlife. Catalina Island offers great attractions and activities for a day-time visitor and for longer stays. Sightseeing, entertainment and sports such as golf, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, scuba diving and snorkeling, swimming and tennis are offered.  How to get to Santa Catalina Island

by air
Island Express helicopters whisk you in 14 minutes from San Pedro to Avalon 1 310 510-2525 or 1 800-AVALON and Island Hopper/Catalina Airlines flies daily between Montgomery Field in San Diego and Airport-in-the-Sky in Catalina in 10 and 5 passenger planes 1 800 339-0FLY or 619 279-4595.
Convenient Mainland

by boat
Catalina Cruises 1 800 842-1057 and Catalina Express ferries take 75 minutes from San Pedro, Long Beach or Dana Point on the mainland to Avalon and Two Harbors. From mid-March through November The Catalina Flyer catamaran departs from Newport Harbor at 9AM and departs from Avalon at 4.30PM
